The drop magician

Water droplets form abstract structures when they hit a water surface. These sculptures are not actually visible to the naked eye as they exist only a few milliseconds. Markus Reugels is a passionate photographer who takes away the secrets of these extraordinary structures with great attention to detail.

A sophisticated apparatus with microprocessor-controlled drop dispensers, a collecting basin, various flash devices and a standard DSLR reflex camera form the technical basis of his drop photography. The decisive factor for creating the unusual play of colours in water, which resembles liquid glass, is probably Markus Reugels' almost unlimited imagination.

Like a conductor his orchestra, the' Dropfenmagier' conducts magnetic valves, colour additives, viscosities and flash triggers. The imaginative composition and the skillful freezing of the right moment in the life of the water drops give the viewer of Markus Reugels' pictures a fascinating insight into an unknown wonder world.
